Our Chicken – 100% ECC-Compliant in the Netherlands

We take responsibility. For better animal welfare in poultry farming.

For our chickens, we consciously choose higher housing standards than required by law: with more space and more time for healthier development. It’s our contribution to a more sustainable future and a promise to our guests, as true enjoyment begins with respect – for nature, the animals, and our shared responsibility.

FORERUNNER IN POULTRY FARMING

Since 2020, we have joined the broiler chicken initiative, committing to meet the European Chicken Commitment (ECC) standards by 2026. Since October 2024, we have achieved our goal and exclusively source our chicken in the Netherlands and Belgium from ECC-compliant suppliers.

MORE SPACE
The stocking density of the chickens may never exceed 30 kg/m². This equals about 12 to 15 adult chickens per square meter. For comparison, the legal limit is 39 kg/m². This ensures the animals have more space and can behave more naturally.

SLOWER GROWTH

We consciously choose slow-growing chicken breeds to reduce health issues common in fast-growing high-performance breeds. Compared to high-performance breeds, which are fully grown in about 25 to 32 days, we give our chickens around 52 to 68 days to develop as healthily as possible.

Employment
Our chickens live in barns with natural daylight, promoting a natural day-night rhythm. The barns include pecking options, enrichment materials, and perches. Cages are strictly prohibited.
Less Medication
The slower growth of the chickens and better housing conditions significantly reduce housing-related diseases. This leads to a sharp decrease in the need for antibiotics.
Origin
Our chickens are raised 100% in Germany, specifically in Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Schleswig-Holstein.
Slaughtering
The slaughter process follows the most modern and animal-friendly techniques. Methods such as hanging the chickens upside down are strictly prohibited. This ensures that the animals are slaughtered in the least stressful manner possible.
